Roxana’s journey began when she got offered a job at a concert venue from a customer at Starbucks simply because they were a regular and she had their beverage prepared as soon as she saw them. That decaf, tall latte showed her prompt and prepared attitude and scored her an interview with the manager of The Fillmore, Silver Spring – a venue that held a variety of different shows and genres. She quickly moved up different job positions as she expressed interest of the venues functionality such as ticket scanning, security, VIP sales and production runner. She was quickly captivated by industry’s ecosystem as each shift she experienced the excitement the live shows. She would describe the energy between the artists and audience as energetic and exhilarating.
As she worked here part time, she was also studying broadcasting media production in college while being hands on in her community. She was a stage manager for three plays in her college theatre department where, again, her ability to learn and gain skills led her to become the soundboard and lighting operator during the production of the plays. In college, Roxana also participated in a student-produced newscast where she researched, wrote, shot anchored and edited in preparation for a weekly live production. During this time, Roxana wanted to collide both of her worlds and take a shot at photographing live concerts. This would become her new found passion. Her obligations would be to obtain a media pass, take photos of the show from the barricade, edit, then submit photos to the venues marketing department for social media. As much as she enjoyed being the venues house photographer, she went off to university to finish her degree. She graduated in 2021 and is currently working full time. She is excited to get back into the industry with her goals realigned.
Pink Moon Productions first began in 2017 as an idea – a safe space for Roxana’s creativity to blossom. It was inspired by the many hats she wore as a college student and part time employee at a venue. She’d often described herself as a one-woman-band. Someone who is capable and who could “do it all” and if she couldn’t, I’d teach herself. Write, film, produce, direct, edit, publish.
In college, Roxana was a leader, top student in her class, constantly working and looking for volunteer work to gain experience. She wanted to create more than a portfolio to showcase her work. Thus, she created Pink Moon Productions. More to come.
